The Helmet

At about 2 months old I noticed Naomi's head was getting pretty flat on one side. By her four month appointment it wasn't any better and Dr. Savage noticed she really resisted turning her head the other way so she suggested physical therapy. When they measured her head she was about 12 mm out of proportion. ( a normal person is 3mm or less) After a few months of her exercises (designed to help her be more comfortable turning her head the other way) she was a couple of mm better but it never improved much after that. Finally the physical therapist suggested we get her a helmet or it was unlikely her flat spot would be unnoticable.
Then it took another month to get approved and fitted for the helmet but she finally got it. The helmet doctor thinks she will be in it for 2 to 3 months since hers is a mild case compared to some other babies. Unfortunately for her that means she is in it for July and August...the hottest months of the year!
She's being great about it despite getting very sweaty most of the time. We keep the house really cold and I tote around her portable battery powered fan when we are out and about which actually helps a lot.
We think she pulls off the helmet look very well though.
And since she's standing and falling a lot more now, it's nice to have extra protection!
{and from the occasional attacks from Julius}

Oh, the helmet is cute on her! She does pull it off well! :)
